Month Seven Blog Income and Traffic Report
It’s hard to believe seven months of blogging have come and gone. The last seven months have been super busy but also amazing. I have to say that starting a mom blog was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’m able to be creative and make money all while staying home with my youngest.
I guess I’ve started a new tradition with my blog income and traffic reports. I like to give you a little peek into what’s been going on in my life during the month as well as my blog progress.

September was a good month for us. I finally feel like we are settled into our new house and surroundings. After making so many military moves I’ve gotten used to setting up the house and learning what’s around me. At the end of August my husband suggested that I join a Crossfit gym near us. If you’ve looked into Crossfit you know how expensive it can be. As a frugal mom of three girls, I have a hard time spending money on myself but I decided that I would spend my blog income on a Crossfit membership. It’s so nice to be able to pay for my own membership! I found a great deal on Groupon and decided to take the plunge. I spent the entire month of September going to the gym four days a week and love it! Other than that my oldest daughter turned twelve, yup I’m getting old.
My blog did better than ever in September! I love seeing all my hard work pay off. Each month my income and social media followers increase. I started off making $1.50 in month one and have increased my income to $356 in month seven. If you’re interested in starting a blog you can check out my post about how to start a blog here. I would highly recommend Bluehost for your hosting, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.
You can see all my blog reports here:
Let’s take a look at my goals for month seven:
Write and publish eight blog posts. I only published five blog posts and I’m fine with that because I’ve spent more time focusing on quality blog posts instead of quantity.
Learn more from Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. This class is seriously amazing! Every time I open the class I learn something new.
Come up with an idea for a product to sell. My oldest daughter and I have come up with an idea but it will take quite awhile to put together.
Increase followers and income. Yup and yup, I increased both my followers and income!
Update four old blog posts. I actually updated about ten old blog posts.
Write a post about starting a blog. I’m happy to say I finally wrote and published my starting a blog post.
Start sending out monthly emails to my subscribers. Ok, I’m terrible about sending out emails and honestly didn’t send any out in September.
Social media followers:
Pinterest: August 1700 September 2079
Twitter: August 2300 September 2830
Facebook: August 220 September 248
Instagram: August 1750 September 1980
Page Views: August 7353 September 6718
The biggest key to success when increasing your followers is to be active on social media and participate in Facebook groups. Make sure that you’re retweeting, liking and commenting on others content. I know that some people have huge social media followings but I want to make sure that the people that are following me actually care about what I’m posting.
AdSense: August $256 September $337
Amazon: August $13.83 September $3.66
Flex Offers: August $0 September $14.96
Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing: August $67 September $0
Activate: August $.22 September $.82
Massive Sway: August $0 September $0

Total income: August $337.93 September $356.76
I’ve included programs that I still haven’t made any money with because I continue to apply for opportunities and work with affiliates. I figure if I keep trying, eventually it will pay off.
You can join any of these programs by clicking on the links above.
I’m a huge fan of Google AdSense. A majority of my income comes from Google AdSense. In most blog income reports that I’ve read affiliate marketing has been the biggest money-maker. I’m still working on my affiliate marketing strategy, but it’s coming along. Here are some Google AdSense tips to help you make the most money possible.
Over the past month I’ve been working on creating affiliate pins for Pinterest. Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing teaches you how to create the pins and choose what you’ll promote in your pins. When I signed up for Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing I was so impressed with the class that I became an affiliate. Michelle teaches you everything you could possible need to know about affiliate marketing. It’s not a get rich quick scheme, but over time by implementing the strategies she teaches you’ll see an increase in your affiliate income. Some of the things covered in the class are how to pick the right affiliate for your niche, how to promote the product and how to create an affiliate marketing strategy. I would highly recommend her class if you’re interested in learning more about affiliate marketing and increasing your income. You can see all my recommendations for blog products and resources here.
My top blog posts for September were:
My goals for October:
Write and publish five blog posts
Create ten new affiliate pins
Increase income and followers
Send out a newsletter
Start writing my holiday gift guides
Create new pins for five old posts
My advice to other bloggers or those looking to start a blog:
If you haven’t already, switch to a self-hosted blog. Being self hosted enables you to monetize your blog. I would highly recommend Bluehost. I love their customer support. If you ever run into a problem they are there to help.
Invest in your blog whether it’s a blogging class like Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing or a new blog theme.
Pin regularly on Pinterest. Pinning throughout the day makes it so more people see your pins. I recently signed up for the free trial of Boardbooster and love it.
Really spend time when it comes to creating your pinnable images. Pinterest is such a huge traffic source for my blog.
Sign up with only a few affiliates within your niche to start out. Really get to know your audience and what they want. Take those few affiliates and write down some ideas of how you can promote them in blog posts and on social media. I really like Flex Offers, they have a huge selection of companies and brands to work with.
I have a few other ways I make money every month.
Swagbucks: My September income was $4.98 giving me a total of $39.82. With Swagbucks you earn points my watching videos, taking survey’s and shopping through their links. If your going to buy something on Amazon or another site, go through their links you’ll earn points. Once you reach 2,500 points you can redeem them for a $25 gift card or keep saving up to get larger gift cards. Another awesome perk is that you earn points when you refer your friends to Swagbucks!
Inbox Dollars: September income was $1.30, I know it’s not a lot but it all adds up. I now have a total of $14.63 in my account. Inbox Dollars works pretty much the same way as Swagbucks. One thing I like about Inbox Dollars is that I can play games to earn money too. Just like Swagbucks you earn money when you refer friends and others to Inbox Dollars. My favorite thing about Inbox dollars is that you earn money just opening emails!
I also use Ibotta and Checkout 51 but haven’t done much with them this month.
My lifetime earnings with Ibotta have reached $197. That’s not bad for simply doing my shopping and scanning my receipt.
What are your blogging goals for October? What’s been working for you lately?
