How I Earned $160 In My Fifth Month Blogging
Month 5 Blog Income And Traffic Report
This past month has been chaos for my family! We packed up our family and moved from Colorado to Alabama. You would think having moved over nine times that it would get easier. Well that’s not the case. We were so busy getting our house ready to sell, looking into new schools for the girls, finding a new house and getting things ready that there wasn’t much time for blogging. Luckily I had planned ahead and wrote out my blog posts a month in advance. It was super helpful to have them written and scheduled, but my lack of internet access made it difficult to share on social media. I found myself connecting to WiFi at McDonald’s and in the hotel at night. I did manage to stay on top of things for the most part. Even with all this confusion I was able to accomplish my blogging goals for the month. I increased my followers and had a 124% increase in income!!! How did I do it? I’ll get to that later in the post. Let’s take a look at my followers, posts and goals first.

Goals for July:
Increase my social media following on all accounts by 100. I actually did more than that!
Post at least three times a week on Instagram. I’m really bad about posting to Instagram, it’s an area that I need to improve on. I didn’t meet this goal but did improve on my posting frequency.
Write 10 blog posts. This should be easy, I haven’t been able to do any crafts for my home in months because of our move. As soon as we are settled in I’ll be crafting like crazy. I published exactly 10 blog posts.
Set up a home office space for myself. In our current house I blog from the kitchen table, but our next house is twice the size. I have a spot all picked out and can’t wait to turn it into my own creative space. I did get my desk set up and a few pictures hung but still have some work to do. It seems like that’s the last priority when moving.

Page Views: June 7,299 July 4,446
My followers increased in July but my page views decreased. I think the decrease was because I didn’t have access to the internet for almost two weeks. I wasn’t able to promote my posts as much as usual.

My Top Posts From July;
What have I been up to in July to grow my blog?
I recently purchased an amazing affiliate marketing course! I’m about halfway through the class and have already learned so much. It’s the kind of class that you don’t just go through once. No matter how many times you reread the materials you’ll continue to learn. I would highly Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. When I first looked into the class I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend the money. After months of thinking it over I decided I wanted to take my blog to the next level. The cost was totally worth it.
This past month I worked on creating a Resource Page. On my resource page you’ll find any blogging resources I use regularly as well as some of my favorite products and sites. You can check it out here.
I’ve also been reading through She Means Busniess by Carrie Green. It’s an amazing and inspiring book that helps you identify your passion and create a plan to reach your goals. For me this applies to my blogging journey. I would definitely recommended reading her book.
Pinterest and Twitter are my biggest concerns when it comes to social media. I continue to pin like crazy and have started paying closer attention to twitter. I follow new people within my niche and like, comment and retweet their content. I’ve found by doing this I’ve gained more followers and traffic to my blog.
I also worked on my email subscriber list. I had created some printable a few months ago for my subscribers but recently learned that legally you need to own the images and fonts that you use in printable. I purchased a clip art and font collection with an extended commercial license. There are so many confusing aspects of blogging and I’m not quite sure about all the legal issues yet, but I took the original printable down and created new ones using the clip art and fonts that I purchased. You can find my new printable here.

Obviously increase my income.
Create an Instagram schedule to keep myself on track with posting.
I find it super helpful to write these posts. I’m able to keep track of my progress and goals. By writing out my goals for the month, I’m more likely to accomplish them. This concept is something that I learned from She Means Business.
